As a new year approaches, there is much to look forward to. Everything from entertainment and pop culture to once-in-a-lifetime astrological events, 2025 is sure to be a year to remember. Here is an overview of what to expect:
Entertainment and Pop Culture
Following a somewhat lackluster year of cinema, 2025 is a big year for the film industry: with blockbusters like Captain America: Brave New World and game adaptations like Minecraft, the new year brings with it an elevated sense of excitement and anticipation in the theater.
In addition, 2025 has potential to be a big year for television. With the final season of Stranger Things airing after a three year wait since its last season, to the second seasons of The Last of Us and Percy Jackson and the Olympians, 2025 TV offers a unique blend of genres to keep anyone interested.
Additionally, it seems to be a big year for superheroes. After some disappointing releases over the past few years, Marvel seems to be on a comeback, with three films planned for theatrical release: Captain America 4 (as previously mentioned), Thunderbolts* (a team-up movie starring the MCU’s favorite anti-heroes), and Fantastic Four: First Steps (the iconic marvel team’s debut in the MCU). That said, DC will also be shining; Superman: Legacy will reboot the DC Cinematic Universe, offering a unique and fresh take on some of the world’s most beloved heroes.
It is sure to be a great year for pop culture!
Astrological Events
Furthermore, it will also be a big year of space. For one, by the end of January, there will be a “Parade of Planets,” a phenomenon where all planets are visible in the night sky, a truly marvelous sight. Just a couple weeks later, in mid-March, Earth will experience a total lunar eclipse, where we will have the chance to see the moon take on a deep, blood red color.
Later in the year, Saturn will be in opposition to the Sun, meaning it will be visible to the naked eye. In October, we will experience a Draconid Meteor Outburst – a type of phenomenon where shooting stars are visible through the night sky.
This is just the tip of the iceberg – there are so many more exciting, rare astrological events taking place in 2025. They are truly a testament to the beauty of the universe.
Additional Noteworthy Events
There are many other things to look forward to in 2025. In the world of technology, 5G infrastructure will continue to expand globally, with 6G research kicking off. Also, with the foundation laid in Quantum Computing this year, 2025 is likely to have many Quantum Computing breakthroughs.
In the world of sports, in just the first month, the Australian Open will kick off in Melbourne Park, entertaining tennis fans all over the world. Wimbledon, the US Open, and other exciting tennis events will follow. Additionally, the Super Bowl will be hosted in New Orleans, Louisiana, with Kendrick Lamar performing at the halftime show.
