Did the Biden Family Engage in Corruption in Ukraine?

A major topic of the 2020 presidential election and the upcoming 2024 presidential election has been the current President and former Vice-President of the United States’ son, Hunter Biden. The Biden family has been accused of corruption for a very long time, and one of the biggest cases has to be the scandal with Ukraine and Burisma.

Burisma is a holding company for a group of energy and production companies based in Kyiv, Ukraine. It has operated in the natural gas market in Ukraine since 2002. Hunter Biden joined the board of Burisma in April 2014, shortly after the Ukrainian Revolution of February 2014. What was bizarre about this was that Biden had no experience whatsoever, and it was quite obvious that his last name helped him get this position.

It was clear that Hunter Biden violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) while negotiating business deals with entities in Mexico, Romania, Russia, China, and Ukraine while his father was Vice-President of the United States. FARA is an act placed by the Department of Justice to reduce the influence of foreign propaganda regarding the United States by having the DOJ monitor those who are working on behalf of a foreign principal.

Hunter never registered under FARA and according to some, he was a conflict of interest for the Obama Administration. He was paid approx. $83,333 a month to sit on the Burisma board. He had also introduced one of the company’s top board members, Vadym Pozharskyi, to his father (which was revealed via emails later). At this same time, Burisma was being investigated by a prosecutor in Ukraine. Joe Biden, who was afraid of his son getting involved in the investigation, used one billion dollars of foreign aid to Ukraine as leverage to get the prosecutor (who was investigating Burisma) fired. He used his connections (thanks to his son) to get into contact with then Ukraine President, Pedro Poroshenko.

Joe Biden admitted using the money as leverage in a video discussion in 2016, recalling that he said “You’re not getting the billion. I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money, well, son of a b*tch, he got fired.” It is clear as daylight that this was done in the interest of his son and not in the interest of the U.S.

This, of course, is not the only case of corruption in the Biden family, but it has to be the most outrageous in my opinion. What is even more alarming is the new media’s clear bias when reporting this topic. Most media outlets you will find will either label this topic as a “conspiracy” or silence it altogether. Right-leaning news outlets will give this story airtime while left-leaning news outlets tend to silence it altogether.

You may ask, ‘Why is this important?’ Well, Hunter Biden has just been charged by the Department of Justice. However, it for some reason does not include this. And of course, Joe Biden himself has not been charged for this at all. And for Hunter’s charges, he has been handed a slap on the wrist, which I find as more evidence of corruption. It is quite simple. If you are the President/ Vice-President’s son, you can break the law without facing repercussions. There should be 2 legal standards in this country. Either we prosecute and charge everyone fairly, or we prosecute and charge no one. And until the news media starts to report this story and other stories of Biden’s corruption, Americans will continue to blindly support one of the most corrupt American politicians in the modern era.
